"People in prisons, jails, and detention centers are at high risk of infection and have seriously abridged access to health care and hygiene within facilities. The overcrowded and unsanitary conditions of confinement, coupled with inadequate, neglectful, and often punitive responses to medical needs, mean that COVID-19 poses serious risks to this population."

Covid thoughts

the exclusion of anticapitalistic perspectives in the commentariat becomes very apparent when they say "X industry shouldn't be affected"

we are people, with friends and family, not cogs. we are all affected.

The giant apparatus corporations use to externalize the cost of socially reproducing us for the next day of work has broken down and been replaced by anxiety and physical isolation

that will/is affecting everyone fuck off

it was a beautiful day in seattle yesterday. decided to walk to the park and smoke (assumed it would be empty)

instead there was a ragtag brass band with people spread out in the park (more than 6ft, no large groups)

(i didnt smoke, too many kids)

a manager where i work was saying that his friend (brother? i dont remember) is "getting screwed" bc he owns a lot of apartments across the US and because of the moratoriums on evictions tenants are choosing to not pay rent "just because they know they can get away with it"

in case you needed to be reminded that landlords are fucking terrible leeches

In addition to stopping evictions, Seattle utilities are moving to not cut off water or power for non-payment during the emergency situation either.

Actual biological illness

That's the order from most concern to least for for me

Bong Joon Ho has a movie called "the host" that I can't stop thinking about right now ("love in the time of cholera" too)

("least" is relative here, I still don't want to get sick or get anyone else sick)

Everybody, keep talking.

It’s very dangerous right now, not only because of the bio threats.

Oppressors win by making those of noble intent think they are alone, that they are powerless.

We have seen, here in the fediverse, that we are NOT alone.

Remember this: Keep talking.

I've decided that handsanitizer, as one word, is an official word now
