Based on the centrist podcasts i follow, centrists are becoming explicitly worried about the status quo.

They seem worried certain "elites" are being too greedy and worried that is causing a situation that could "lead to a revolution" — ruining the cushy situation for all of the other "elites".

Some of these things are really surreal to listen to. Very mainstream people using words like "radical" and "revolution" with an earnest ominous tone

People who type their whole thought in slack instead of sending every sentence - why are you a psychopath

It is not a question of “what happens if face surveillance is used against you?” It is a question of how many times law enforcement has already done so.

Now that the united front against trump is fracturing and dems are moving to re-up their power and surveillance capabilities, can we all go back to admitting that the NYT is terrible and actively harmful??

They are constantly wrong (intentionally or not) about very high stakes things

Their latest daily podcast episode, "Is more violence coming," is a good example of muddled thinking, constantly playing catch-up, and spreading FUD

So stoked for this!

Former Black Panthers, Lorenzo Komboa Ervin and JoNina Abron-Ervin just launched their own podcast!

Yes, indeed, it is, and tragic for the people who get caught up in the cult, and for those that were close to them. Unfortunately, I don't even think identifying who Q is (probably Jim and Ron Watkins from 8kun) will drive people away.

The big concern I have is that some of these people, when their edifice collapses, are going to resort to attacking civilians and launching suicide attacks, like we saw in Nashville.

Anarchists and abolitionists should not be be pushing for arrests. It does not matter that they are our enemies. We cannot be against cops, prisons, and state violence only when it is convenient.

Consistency aside, expanding the powers of the police state is only going to cause increased violence towards black people, indigenous people, non-white people, and the unhoused in the long run. They will increasingly target antifascist protesters and anarchists as well.

Minneapolis police killed Bayle Gelle's son, then raided his house in the middle of the night, terrorizing him, his wife, and their younger children.

Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi are complaining about graffiti on their houses. They don't know how poor people live in the USA.

Does anyone know if there has been any local reporting out of Sweden about the ideology of Anders Tegnell, the state epidemiologist?

reading this story makes me wonder if he is some sort of closet social darwinist or eugenicist or something

Belarusian anarchists from Pramen collective recorded video statement for the new year. English subtitles inside. #Belarus #anarhism #HappyNewYear

What are some of the shitty things the NYT has done this year?

- supporting a right wing coup in bolivia
- calling for the military to be deployed against US citizens
- attacking sex workers by amplifying Christian group exodus cry's propaganda
- the caliphate podcast series
- michael barbaro

What else?

can't nobody tell me i'm in a leftist media bubble

on this podcast, i just listened to bill gates say "i'm not a radical, i'm more of a centrist". then immediately rashida jones introduces bono to the podcast, bono proceeds to call bill gates his "comrade". Then the next guest, kerry washington, proceeds to provide activist bona fides by telling a story about her mother crossing a teacher strike picket line (it was implied that it was justified, but details and context were not given)

😂 😂 😂

@paranoid maybe a bit of a tangent, but one of the most brilliant books i've read in a long time is samia khatun's "autralianama". its starting-point is the discovery of a book in a mosque in an outback mining town. a string of (monolingual) australian historians assume that the book, which is written in bengali, is a copy of the quran. but khatun, who migrated to australia from bangladesh as a child, figures out that it is in fact a compendium of poetry called "kasasol ambia". "australianama" is her attempt to start reading the history of the continent through the epistemic strategies embodied in the book's songs and stories. part of the task is to learn bengali, which at the beginning of her research she herself speaks very little of.
